meanoldmiser I’m grateful this is available; thanks to all involved. No favorite track - best consumed whole

Julien Gracq Creating outstanding and otherworldly experimental music requires the artist to keep his tongue firmly in his cheek. Something about adding a touch of absurdity to the mix that takes it to far more interesting places. And here it is. Two polar opposites at play: gleeful light and brooding darkness. Favorite track: The Ritualistic.

Cory Tucker A compilation that showcases the early development of Tom Ellard's electronic music experimentation and refinement. Great variety, from catchy to wildly abstract. Many of these cuts manage to sound simultaneously old and fresh. Great work. Favorite track: Babies.
Eric Benac

Eric Benac The self-deprecating title isn't quite accurate to the quality of this album. Elllard tries to go "pop" in his own way. So it is weird, off-putting, and very non-pop. Which is why it rules. Favorite track: Big Eats.

about

Hi There. Please note this version is an extension of the vinyl LP available at Dark Entries. It does not have tracks that appear on Clifford Darling. It has new tracks that have been restored from the 1982 sessions.

Around 1982 we were playing the live shows that would become the Blubberknife C90. At the same time I was trying to make pop music, working solo with the new cheap toys of the era - the tb303, mc202 and so on. I didn't really know how pop music worked but was keen to get away from the so-called industrial noise ghetto. These recordings weren't really organised as a coherent release - instead I made cassettes called Snappy Carrion and 80's Cheesecake that were more like reports on how I was progressing.

It was disappointing to see these cassettes become expensive rarities, and around 2000 I made a cheap CD compilation. In 2014, DE asked to issue this as a vinyl record and in trying to optimise that I looked at some of the trials I had abandoned. Usually the problem was I had added something that sucked, and back then had no way to get rid of it. If nothing else, the new century has brought ways to perform microsurgery on sound. The tracks THE RITUALISTIC, BABIES and KAI KAI are heard here for the first time but are completely formed from the parts I had backed up at the time. It's rather cryogenic.
